The Parkonect system can create four types of validations. From the Validations you may see a list of all validations created for your garage and whether they are active or inactive. You can create four types of validations:
- Percent Off (note: for 100% off use 1 and for all lesser percentages use a decimal point, i.e. .75 for 75% off)
- Dollars Off
- Time Off (in minutes)
- Unique Rate Sheet
To create a new validation:
Select Garage > Garage Settings > Validations tab > Add Validation
To edit or disable a validation, select a validation from the Validations menu. Uncheck “active” to disable validation.
Validation Details #
This section of the validation establishes the validation codes and descriptions which will visible on the Garage Log and in the various validation reports throughout the Parkonect system.
1. Create a prefix – please note, all validations in the Parkonect system must start with “V”. The prefix can be as simple as a few numbers or letters. For example, V24hrXYZ.

4. “Use Parking Pass” and “API Enabled” are specialty functions in Parkonect that have their own manuals. Please ignore these or contact a Parkonect representative if you have any questions.
Validation Details:
- Prefix: This is the start of every validation code. Must be different from other validations at the garage to prevent confusion when auditing. This field does not support spaces or special characters. (For example: V50off)
- Description: This is the name of the validation. This is how the validation will show as in the Validation Portal and the reports. (For example: 50% off)
- Active: Required for the validation to work.
- Normal validation: Regular validation. To be applied online, printed or at a Validation Station
- API Enabled: not required for online validation
- Random Generator: not required for online validation
- Is Hotel Validation: Validation can only be applied on Hotel tickets.
- Allow with Event PrePay Mode: Not required for online validation. Allows the validation to be scanned at the Entry kiosk during Event PrePay Mode.
Promotion Type #
Establishes the type of validation and defines the starting and end date of the validations that may be used. If Rate Sheet is selected, you will need to first create the desired rate sheet using the Rate Sheet Module.
- Rate sheet: When the validation is applied it replaces the rate sheet on the ticket with the one on the validation. The validation will only be applied if it provides a discount to the customer.
- Default Rate Sheet: The rate sheet to be applied
- Weekend Rate Sheet: This rate sheet is applied if the ticket is validated on a Saturday or Sunday.
- Percent Off: Use this when granting percentage off discounts. For example: 50% off.
- IMPORTANT NOTE: In this field the number 1 equals 100. For a full validation enter 1, for a 50% off validation enter 0.5, for a 25% off validation enter 0.25
- Dollar Off: Flat dollar discounts. $5 off, $20 off, etc
- Time Off: Time is in minutes. Enter 60 to grant a 1 hour discount.
- Start Date: Sets the start date for the validation. If backdated the validation becomes active immediately. If a future date is entered the validation won’t be valid until the selected date.
- Ending Date: Determines when the validation stops working. If the intention is to have a permanent validation this field can be left blank.
- Printing Increment: N/A Pricing increment is for internal use generally not used.
- Sunday Only: Optional. Enable if the validation is only to be applied on Sundays.
Valid Ranges #
Validations consist of a prefix and a serial number. In this section, the serial number range is defined and once defined, each number in the range can only be used once.
Valid Ranges are not required for Online Validations and are only used when working with validation stickers. The start and ending range should match the first and last validation sticker numbers.
Serial numbers that are not defined yet and paired with a valid prefix will be rejected by the Parkonect system.
For example, if the prefix is V24XYZ and the validation range is 001 to 010, a valid validation would be V24XYZ001. Examples of invalid validations would be V24XYZ01 or V24XYZ011.
